Police are seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery outside the Tuggeranong Hockey Centre on Soward Way in Greenway on Monday.

A 75-year-old woman was standing next to her vehicle when a man approached and opened the rear passenger side door at about 11am.

When confronted by the woman, he threatened her with a knife. The offender took a large sum of cash from the victim’s purse before fleeing in a black station wagon eastbound towards the Tuggeranong Town Centre.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his mid-30s and about 180cm tall.

He was wearing khaki shorts, a short-sleeved orange high visibility t-shirt and an orange plastic fingerless glove on his left hand. The offender was clean shaven and wearing a yellow and blue construction style helmet.

Police are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Greenway area at this time, can identify the offender or who has any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Please quote reference number 5961315. Information can be provided anonymously.

People should not, however, report crime information via the ACT Policing Facebook and Twitter pages.

Good to see crims are taking safety seriously, glove for cut protection, hi viz to avoid being run over, hard hat to protect their head from handbag swinging victims. Seriously though, shouldn’t be hard to identify him, pretty unique clothing.

Not really unique.

Based on that description they could go and arrest about 100 workers from the large construction site about 100m up that road.

Half the cars parked along that road (and probably some in the hockey field car park) belong to the construction workers.
