Katy Gallagher reminds us to enrol our four- year-olds for preschool in 2006.

Next years littlies will have access to a 12 hour preschool week, extended from 10.5 hours.

“The first stage of the 12 hour week has been implemented over the last term, with a total of 29 part time preschools extending their hours from 10.5 to 12 hours.”

“A range of session times and days for attendance will be available according to community preferences. Families already registered for 2006 had been surveyed to ascertain their preferences, enabling the delivery of more flexible government preschool services. The results indicated that 70 per cent of parents preferred longer days. They also indicated that, for 70 per cent of parents, access to the home area preschool was more important than session times.”

All my kids loved preschool and would have lapped up the extra 1.5 hours. Bit of a non-issue I reckon.

Jey, don’t know where you were educated, but school has never been about what the kids want…

Under the new IR reforms, they’ll also be given the opportunity to openly communicate with employers about flexible options for chimney sweeping.
