A colourful lady looking for an accommodating family.

We have so many lovable animals looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter, and that is why we are so excited to start our new weekly instalment of ‘Pets of the Week’.

This week, we’re introducing you to two lovely females!

SMALL PET OF THE WEEK – Emily-Rose

Add some beauty to your life and adopt gorgeous Indian Ringneck, Emily-Rose. Emily-Rose has been in care at RSPCA ACT for over a month after finding her way here as a stray.

She’s ready to start her new life with the perfect forever family with experience in caring for parrots. She’s a lady with discerning tastes and prefers males to females. She makes this abundantly clear and is an all-together nicer bird when interacting with human males – especially if they have a beard. She thinks beards are THE BEST!

As the diva she is, Emily-Rose expects a certain level of comfort and attention. She would need an area with plenty of enrichment if kept indoors. Alternatively, if she could live in an aviary with other Ringnecks, she’d happily strive to become their Queen-B.

Either way, Emily- Rose needs company and plenty of activity to remain happy. If she’s not, there will be no question – She’s a lady that’s not afraid to voice her complaints! Add some extra colour and love to your life by adopting.

*Please Note: When adopting birds from RSPCA ACT you will need to provide photographs of their new home and in some instances measurements, of the aviaries before adoption.

DOG OF THE WEEK – Evie

Meet Evie, supermodel of the world! Evie’s got a face that’d melt even the most hardened of hearts and wants, more than anything, to be loved by her special human. She enjoys human contact and would make a fantastic companion. Her long legs make her an ideal height for you to scratch her behind the ears as you enjoy your daily walks.

Like all young adults, Evie is busy learning basic good manners and would need someone that will help her continue to learn and maintain her training. We can help you with that! RSPCA ACT has a dog training school that caters to dogs of all levels and ages. We aim to give dogs and their owners the required skills to have a happy, well-adjusted life together, using positive reinforcement.

You can find out more about our classes here.

If you’re looking for a companion to a dog you already have, Evie’s your girl! She enjoys the company of other dogs and would love to have a playmate! We recommend Evie for a family with children eight years and older. Please remember that all interactions between children and dogs/pups should be monitored.

Evie: A big girl with an even bigger heart!
