Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Bently and Marge are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Cat of the Week – Bently

He’s the cat that’s full of life- meet Bently! Bently was surrendered to the shelter as his owner couldn’t keep up with his undesirable behaviours. We’ve sat down with Bently and listened to what he had to say, and thus far he’s showing he can change his ways. This rather cheeky kitty is incredibly needy. He is going to require a lot of attention in his new home, so if you want a pet who will devote lots of attention to you (and vice versa), he’s the one!

Little Bently is a busy boy who thoroughly enjoys playing with toys, getting under your feet, and chatting away to his people. He sometimes can become overstimulated when playing and a little too rough. His new owners will need to have had some cat experience and be able to read his behaviour. He might just need a bit of kitty time out to chill and calm down. Learning what sets him off in excitement will be the key to managing this behaviour.

We think that Bently would really like a spacious cat run in his new home to burn off some steam. He thus far has seemed to enjoy the cat run at the shelter, and it has definitely helped quell some of his less desirable behaviours.

He is very much a solo cat and does not like other animals in the slightest, he wouldn’t be suited to living with children either.

Marge

Mummy Marge needs a family of her own.

Dog of the Week – Marge

Marge is a beautiful brindle wolfhound who came to us a few weeks ago. After delivering a litter of cute puppies (you might remember Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Ralph) we knew Marge was the best name for such a loving mum! Now that all her pups are in loving homes, it’s their mum’s turn to settle down with a new family.

Marge is very affectionate and loving. Her large, gentle eyes are impossible not to fall in love with. Marge will sometimes forget her size (she’s a large dog), so you might need to remind her she’s not really built for people’s laps!

Marge has shown some interest in games and she prefers a tennis ball. Leave her with a stuffed toy, though, and you’ll come back to discover fluff everywhere …

Marge is a wolfhound and, true to her breed, she can be predisposed to chase small animals, so she’ll need a strong walker around rabbits. She does not really interact well with other dogs either so she’ll need to be the only dog at her place. She does love people, though, so we would recommend her with children 10 years and older.

Marge has had a rough start to her life, but this beautiful mum now deserves a loving home. If you think that could be with you, visit her adopt a pet profile.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
