Witnesses called after stolen vehicle fails to stop, runs red light in Ainslie

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after a driver in a stolen car failed to stop when pulled over by police before running a red light in Ainslie on Tuesday evening (11 June).

Around 5pm, ACT Policing members were on patrol in Ainslie when they became aware of a suspected stolen white Subaru Liberty with ACT vehicle registration.

Police positioned themselves behind the Subaru, activating their lights and sirens, and directing the vehicle to stop.

The driver of the Subaru allegedly accelerated away from police, proceeding through a red light at the intersection of Limestone Avenue and Ainslie Avenue, before continuing southwest down Limestone Avenue on the wrong side of the road.
