A man stopped a woman from leaving home in her car on Friday morning (5 July), then threatened her with a hammer and rifled through her vehicle while she fled inside, police say.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the aggravated robbery at a home in Rag Holmes Street, MacGregor.

Police said that about 6:35 am, the woman was preparing to drive away from the residence when she was blocked in by a silver sedan that pulled in behind her vehicle.

A man got out of the silver vehicle, and allegedly threatened the woman with a hammer. The woman left her vehicle and went back inside the residence to call police.

The woman’s vehicle was not stolen, but several items were taken from it.

Police are also seeking anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the area or nearby residents whose CCTV systems may have captured vision of a silver sedan around the time of the incident.

Anyone who may have any information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6414000. Information can be provided anonymously.
