Police are seeking witnesses to a robbery on Franklin Street in Manuka yesterday afternoon (Monday, December 19).
Around 3.15pm a 57-year-old woman was walking along Franklin Street in Manuka, outside the Greater Union cinemas, when she was approached from behind by an unknown man. The man grabbed at the woman’s backpack and a struggle ensued. The woman managed to maintain possession of her backpack however her phone was taken.
A number of witnesses came to the woman’s aid and the offender left the area on a bicycle down Furneaux Street and then onto Canberra Avenue.
The offender is described as about 175 centimetres (5’9”) and aged in his late teens to early twenties. He was wearing white shorts and a red hooded jumper.
