Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Hank and Athena are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Cat of the Week: Hank

This cat is Mr Personality! Upon first meeting him, you’ll see what we mean. First he calls for you, loud meows as if to say, “Hey you, come and play, come and love me!”

Then you meet him, and he’s a little head-butting cuddle machine with a sleek, attractive coat and a built-in tractor beam seemingly keeping him at your side. Take your phone out to snap a photo, and he’s in your face straight away, asking, “What’s that? What’s that?”

We recently upgraded part of our shelter to give animals more space, and Hank scored a new spacious condo; he was living in a small cage beforehand, so if this is how he is in a slightly larger room, imagine how happy he’ll be in your house!

Come and visit, no appointment necessary.

Athena

Dog of the Week: Athena

Oh, this little sweetheart is so gentle, polite and friendly. This week, RSPCA ACT held our own in-house Cupcake Day, and a staff member baked dog-friendly cakes for our canines.

When we entered Athena’s kennel with the treat, she raised her head from her bed gently and slowly, got up, got off her bed and sat down, waiting patiently for whatever was next.

She took the cupcake ever so delicately, almost as if she were more concerned about possibly making contact with your hand than eating the actual cupcake. She’s just a gentle, sweet soul. She plonked back onto her bed and ate the cupcake slowly, leaving crumbs all over her blanky.

Come and visit Athena, you’ll see her gentle soul easily, because it shines bright.

Pawnote: What a great result from last week’s article as Jade, the overtly friendly Indian Ringneck, was adopted along with long-term dog, Ally. Thanks, Canberra, you’re the best.

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
