A 32-year-old Kambah man and 33-year-old Chisholm man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this afternoon in relation to an aggravated burglary and short pursuit in Fyshwick this morning (Thursday, May 22).
About 3.55am members from City Police Station were on mobile patrol on Ipswich Street when they observed a red Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction suddenly turn into a side street.
Police followed the car and activated emergency lights and siren for the driver of the car to pull over.
A short pursuit ensued along a number of streets in Fyshwick before the driver headed towards Oaks Estate, coming to a stop on Nimrod Road. The maximum speed reached was 140km/h along Canberra Avenue.
The driver and passenger ran from the car, in opposite directions. Police apprehended both a short time later following a foot pursuit.
Police identified property in the car which is suspected to have been stolen during a burglary in Fyshwick earlier this morning.
The men are charged with aggravated burglary, theft and traffic offences including riding/driving a stolen car.
