Meet our lovable ‘Pets of the Week’ that are looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
This week, say hello to the energetic Mindi and affectionate cat Winnie.
Cat of the Week – Winnie
Meet the cutest kitty on the block, Winnie!
Winnie was first adopted from RSPCA ACT in 2016 when she was a little kitten, and has sadly returned to the Shelter to find a new home. Winnie has a high prey drive due to her natural cat instincts. This curious feline has been known to hunt birds in the yard, even ducks! Her attitude to other small animals is purely instinctual and not a behavioural issue.
Winnie’s natural instincts may be challenging to manage if she were allowed to be a free-roaming indoor/outdoor cat. Which is why the wildlife (and potential pet birds) would be much safer if Winnie was an indoor cat with access to a secure outdoor cat run. This would allow Winnie to safely enjoy the outside world, and keep some distance from other animals.
Winnie hasn’t ever lived with other pets before. So Winnie is looking for a loving home either with one person, a couple or a family with teenage children.
This sweet hearted cat is super affectionate, a gentle soul and will enjoy having the companionship of her new humans.
Winnie would make the purr-fect friend for a lonely person who is on the lookout for some love.
Dog of the Week – Mindi
This week’s Dog of the week Mindi, is raring and ready to find a new home. Mindi is a truly sweet-hearted Kelpie who has bundles of energy and plenty of love to share.
Due to the nature of her breed, Mindi has energy to spare and is an extremely trainable girl who has the potential to excel in any dog sport. Mindi’s trying to find a home with an active individual who runs or rides bikes, and can provide plenty of exercise to keep her physically and mentally stimulated.
Mindi is a people person and loves to play with toys and eat treats! This lovely girl will make a great best buddy for her new family. During her time in the Shelter Mindi has had limited exposure to other dogs. But with some prior introductions, Mindi could certainly try make friends with a friendly male.
We recommend that Mindi finds a family with children 10 years and older. Please remember that all interactions between children and dogs/pups should be monitored.
