Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Taco and Ralph are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Dog of the Week: Taco

If you’re looking for a dog who’s a perfect fit for your home and a companion, Taco is it. Seriously, ask yourself what is it that you actually want from a dog? Because almost inevitably, your answer will be Taco. Hear me out …

Is it a calm-natured dog you’d like? Taco has it. He’s relaxed but also likes the odd walk here and there. Indoors? Outdoors? He’s not fussy. Is he intelligent? Taco will sit, stay, shake hands, wait for the “ok” to eat his food, all of that. Is he good around animals? Taco has literally lived with cats (and kids)!

Taco is even house-trained! Yes, this dog has enjoyed living his first five years of life as a well-respected and cared-for member of a loving family who treated him superbly. He needs that again. He has no business being at our shelter.

Aside from being a mixed-breed and looking like ‘a plain brown dog’, there’s no reason we can think of why Taco should be here. (For the record, he is, in fact, a handsome boy.) If you want a new canine friend, come and get Taco, he’s ready to go. This should be a no-brainer.

Cat of the Week: Ralph

Ralph is a great example of a pet that doesn’t get to demonstrate what he can offer in an animal shelter.

He spends his time in our “leave to settle” area because he gets a bit overwhelmed. When you visit him, you’ll see what we mean. He’ll greet you, come out and rub his head against you, and be affectionate, but then something will move in the background, or another person will approach, and he’ll be back in his condo.

His ‘meow’ is funny too; he says “Nope”, as opposed to a usual, longer “Meow.”

All he genuinely needs is a consistent home, one that’s the same each day with the same human smells and routines, just like most homes. He’ll be a wonderful companion.

We’re inviting you to visit Ralph and consider adopting him. The thought of little Ralph in a happy, settled environment makes us extremely happy.

Pawnotes: Canberra, we are on a hot streak! For three consecutive weeks, at least one animal who has featured in this weekly article has been adopted, including Hilda last week (Athena is still looking for her forever home – check her out in action). Let’s keep it going!

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
