Attempted abduction of 24-year-old woman in Gordon

Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a 24-year-old woman in Gordon at 9:30 am this morning (June 7).

The woman was at a bus stop on Knoke Avenue when a small white car stopped and the male driver got out.

Police report that the man then approached the woman, grabbed her by the wrists and attempted to pull her into the car.

The woman managed to fight off the man who then got back into his vehicle and was last seen driving toward Woodcock Drive.

Police say that the man did not speak during the attempted abduction.

The man is described as being Caucasian, 30 – 40 years old, about 165cm tall (5’5”), and of slim build. He was wearing a hat or beanie, light coloured T-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.

Police are advising the public that anyone who is approached or is in a situation where they feel unsafe should immediately contact police on 131 444 or in the case of an emergency should call Triple Zero (000).

Anyone who has information about the incident which could assist police is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously but please quote reference 6274231.

A short skinny man is unlikely to be able to subdue and drive off with an adult woman by himself. Not without a weapon of some kind.

They knew each other, is my guess.

I know the person who he tried to grab and no they did not know each other.
